Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Chamber mobile application (the "App"). By accessing or using Chamber, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Chamber, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Chamber is a mobile application that provides users with:

  • Access to current U.S. Congressional bills and legislation
  • Information about members of Congress (Representatives and Senators)
  • Voting records and congressional activity
  • AI-generated summaries of bills
  • Personalized notifications about legislative updates
  • Congressional district identification based on location
  • Tools to save and track bills and representatives

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Chamber. By using the App, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least 13 years of age
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
  • Your use of the App complies with all applicable laws and regulations

4. Account Registration

Creating an Account

To access certain features, you must create an account by providing:

  • A valid email address
  • A secure password
  • Basic profile information (name, location)

Account Security

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • You provide false or misleading information
  • Your account is inactive for an extended period
  • Required by law or legal process

5. User Conduct

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Chamber only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

Prohibited Activities:

  • Violate any local, state, national, or international law
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Transmit any harmful, offensive, or illegal content
  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) without permission
  • Collect or harvest user information
  • Reverse engineer or decompile the App
  • Use the App for commercial purposes without permission

Content Standards

While Chamber primarily displays government data, any user-generated content must:

  • Be truthful and accurate
  • Not contain hate speech, threats, or harassment
  • Not violate any laws or regulations
  • Respect the rights and privacy of others

6. Intellectual Property Rights

Our Content

All content in the App, including but not limited to:

  • App design, layout, and user interface
  • Chamber logo, branding, and trademarks
  • AI-generated summaries and analysis
  • Original text, graphics, and code
  • Selection and arrangement of content

...is owned by Chamber or licensed to us and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Government Data

Congressional data (bills, votes, members, etc.) is public domain information provided by the U.S. Government and is not subject to copyright.

Your License to Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

Restrictions

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
  • Distribute, sell, or license the App or its content
  • Remove any copyright or proprietary notices
  • Frame or mirror any part of the App

7. Third-Party Services

Chamber integrates with third-party services including:

  • Supabase (database and authentication)
  • Mapbox (mapping services)
  • Expo (app infrastructure)
  • Congress.gov and ProPublica APIs (congressional data)

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service. We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.

8. Notifications

By using Chamber, you consent to receive:

  • Push notifications about bill updates and congressional activity
  • Administrative messages about your account
  • Service announcements and updates

You can manage notification preferences in the App settings, but you may not opt-out of essential service messages.

9. Location Services

Chamber uses your location to identify your congressional district. By granting location permissions, you consent to:

  • Collection of your device location
  • Use of your location for district identification
  • Storage of your address or location information

You can revoke location permissions in your device settings at any time.

10. AI-Generated Content

AI Summaries

Chamber provides AI-generated summaries of congressional bills. Please note:

  • Summaries are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain errors
  • Summaries are for informational purposes only
  • AI summaries should not be considered legal or political advice
  • Always refer to the original bill text for authoritative information
  • We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content

Accuracy Disclaimer

While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated summaries may:

  • Contain inaccuracies or omissions
  • Not reflect the most recent bill amendments
  • Simplify complex legal language
  • Be subject to interpretation

11. Data Accuracy and Congressional Information

Government Data

Congressional data is provided by official government sources (Congress.gov, ProPublica). While we make efforts to keep this information current:

  • Data may not be real-time and could have delays
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of congressional data
  • Official government sources should be consulted for authoritative information

No Warranty

Chamber is provided "as is" without any warranties regarding:

  • Accuracy of information
  • Availability or uptime
  • Fitness for a particular purpose

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHAMBER IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Accuracy, reliability, or availability

We do not warrant that:

  • The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Defects will be corrected
  • The App is free of viruses or harmful components

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
  • OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US (IF ANY)

This limitation applies to:

  • Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
  • Personal injury or property damage
  • Any claims arising from your use of the App

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability, so these limitations may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Chamber, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the App
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Your violation of any applicable laws

15. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of Chamber is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

16. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or discontinue the App at any time
  • Add or remove features
  • Change pricing (if applicable in the future)
  • Update these Terms

We will notify users of material changes through:

  • In-app notifications
  • Email notifications
  • Updates to the "Last Updated" date

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

17. Termination

Your Right to Terminate

You may terminate your account at any time by:

  • Using the "Delete Account" feature in Settings
  • Contacting us at chamberprojectio@gmail.com

Our Right to Terminate

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

  • You breach these Terms
  • Required by law
  • The App is discontinued

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the App ceases immediately
  • Your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy
  • Provisions that should survive termination (disclaimers, limitations of liability) remain in effect

18. Dispute Resolution

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Informal Resolution

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at chamberprojectio@gmail.com to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.

Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis and waive the right to participate in class actions or class arbitrations.

19. Geographic Limitations

Chamber is intended for users in the United States and provides information about the U.S. Congress. While we don't restrict international access, the App:

  • Focuses on U.S. congressional information
  • May not comply with laws of other countries
  • May have limited functionality outside the U.S.

20. Accessibility

We strive to make Chamber accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. If you encounter accessibility issues, please contact us at chamberprojectio@gmail.com.

21. Feedback and Suggestions

We welcome your feedback and suggestions. By submitting feedback, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to use, modify, and incorporate your feedback into Chamber without compensation or attribution.

22. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

23. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Chamber regarding your use of the App.

24. No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

25. Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account to any third party without our written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.

Your use of Chamber is also subject to the terms of service of the platform from which you downloaded the App:
